Transportation Space-Available Permits

Dear DPMS Community,

This message contains information regarding Transportation Space-Available Bus Permits for the 2019-2020 school year:

Space-available permits are only issued to students who are not currently eligible for busing based on the distance between their home address and the school. If your children are eligible for busing according to the Canyons School District website, then no action is required on your part to obtain a seat on the bus. Bus passes will be issued in August and September as the bus rosters are finalized.

As determined by state law, students in grades K-6 must live more than 1.5 miles away from the school in order to be eligible for busing. Students in grades 7-12 must live more than 2 miles from the school. To determine whether your children are eligible for busing, please visit and type in your address.

If your children are not currently eligible according to the district website, you can apply for a space-available permit on August 5, beginning at 8:00 a.m. at Draper Park Middle School. Please be prepared with your child’s school ID number, also known as a “lunch number.” Space-available permits are awarded by the Canyons School District Transportation Department on a first-come, first-served basis, if there are any available seats on the bus for your address. Notification letters for space-available permit requests will be sent before the end of September.

Additional information from Canyons School District is also available here. You can also find answers to frequently-asked questions about busing at Draper Park on this site (School Info–Bus Information).
