We’ve received a number of calls and questions about honors classes for the 2019-2020 school year and wanted to provide an update on the process.
As you may recall, back in April and May, there was a Google Form that parents and students filled out to request to be considered for honors classes. For those who submitted the information during the window when the form was open, we have been busy pulling the necessary qualifying data (RISE scores, DWSBA scores, MI and RI scores, etc.). If you are enrolling your child at DPMS this year and she or he has not previously been enrolled at a Canyons School District school, you are responsible for supplying the qualifying data from your child’s previous school to your child’s counselor or Mr. Seltz.
Parents will be notified if your child is qualified for honors classes in August by letter (around the time you receive your child’s schedule for next year).
Also, there are no honors Summer homework assignments this year (per a recent ruling by the Utah State Board of Education).
Have a wonderful rest of summer and look for the letter in the mail in August!
