Draper Park Middle School Viking Scholar 2025-26
The Viking Scholar program is Draper Park’s version of the high school Sterling Scholar program, designed to give Draper Park’s 8th grade students an opportunity to demonstrate their excellence in a variety of subjects and earn a Viking Scholar Trophy. This exciting program is unique to Draper Park Middle School.
Viking Scholar Important Dates and Deadlines
Draper Park Middle School Viking Scholar Application Timeline
Step 1- Application: Complete application at Viking Scholar Application
You will need your Canyons School District CSDDocs login information in order to access the application.
For this step you will need to know the following:
- Which 2 subject categories you wish to apply for
- Your grade point average (GPA)
- Your citizenship grades
- One paragraph per subject on what makes you a good candidate for Viking Scholar (no more than 250 words)
Application Opens: February 6, 2026
Application Deadline: February 17, 2026
Notified February 26th if selected they move forward.
Step 2- Portfolio:
You will be notified by Admin if your application is approved. If you are selected for the next round you will need to check your specific subject to see what your portfolio entails.
Portfolios should demonstrate a variety of abilities and knowledge in the subject area. Each subject area has a specific set of guidelines, so be sure to read through all of them before starting to gather the artifacts.
In some categories, such as performing arts and theater, candidates will be asked to perform a scene from a play or musical, sing a song, or play an instrument in order to demonstrate proficiency, so this is a good time to start preparing that selection.
Portfolio Deadline: March 20, 2026, Main Office by 3:00pm
(***If applying for the FACS Scholar the deadline for portfolio submission is February 26, 2026. Start working on your portfolio items as soon as you submit your application.)
Step 3- Interview:
You will be notified by the admin if your portfolio is approved. If you are selected for the next round, you will sign up for an interview with a panel.
The interviews and performances will be scheduled during Friday, April 17, 2026.
Step 4- Viking Scholar Selection:
Using scores from the interviews and performances, portfolios, GPA, and citizenship
candidates will be evaluated and a scholarship recipient will be chosen. Students winners will be notified the following week.
The Viking Scholar Recognition Reception is tentatively scheduled Friday, May 8th @ 1:15 p.m.
