Chess Club

Students learn the basics of playing chess on Tuesdays in Mr Collette’s classroom (#2424) from 2:30-3:30. Chess club will start meeting in September. Club Thursday is held on Thursdays during first semester from 2:45-3:45. Various activities and classes are offered to provide students with new skills and opportunities to meet new friends. Sample events include: service projects, cooking, robotics, sewing, sports competitions, cookie contests, woodworking, science projects and more! Debate

In debate club students are given the opportunity to speak and argue in front of people in an attempt to persuade and convince the judge that their position is most correct. Students are coached by experienced high school debaters. Canyons School District provide four debate tournaments throughout the year where students argue in front of judges. The debate club at Draper Park meets every Monday in Mr. Collette’s room (#2424). Debate club will begin meeting in August. Math Counts

Math Counts allows students to engage in a competition where they solve math problems at a district level, and possibly move on to regional, state, and national levels. The club is open to all students and the meetings are on Wednesdays from 2:30-3:30 in Mrs. Stirling’s room (#2711). Writing Club

Writing Club is a club for any student who loves to write. Each club meeting includes free writing time as well as time for sharing and collaborating with other student writers. Writing Club begins on September 18, 2019, and will meet almost every Wednesday from 2:30-3:15 for the rest of the year. It is held in Mrs. Dodds’ room in the blue hallway (#2312).
