*School Safety Update*
Many of you are aware of the recent allegations of threats to school safety at Draper Park Middle School. The administration at Draper Park Middle School, Canyons District Administration, and the Draper City Police Department have investigated the allegations of threats and found no credible threat of imminent or planned risk to safety at DPMS. Please see below for the statements that have been issued by the School, district and Police Department regarding the situation:
From DPMS/Canyons District – Monday Afternoon
This message is for parents and guardians of students at Draper Park Middle School. Late last week, we were made aware of conversations among students and their families regarding the rumor of a threat allegedly made against our school. We have also heard from parents and students throughout the day today. We recognize that families may be alarmed at hearing these allegations. Please know the school and police have both investigated this claim. We do not believe it to be substantive. This said, we respect the right of parents to decide what is best for their families. We will work with the students whose parents decide not to send their children to school this week. Additionally, we express appreciation for the students and parents who used the SafeUT mobile app or ParentSquare to report concerns, ask questions, and relay information. Your student’s safety is our No. 1 concern and we continue to encourage all students to say something if they see something. Thank you for your ongoing support of Draper Park Middle School. Questions? Please send me an email or give the school a call.
