3. TSSP and Land Trust Dr. Chip Watts, Dr. Sierra Segura, Ms. Mary Simao
a. Math 2024-2025 Action steps
i. Minor edit to what was presented last month: Each quarter, educators will give the “MAPS”
common assessment – would replace MI and RI. Looks at both reading and math.
ii. This assessment will help place students into an intervention course if needed. Parents will
generally be notified if their student is placed in an
intervention course.

iv. MAPS is still awaiting School Board Approval to be used in all schools. Some schools have been
piloting this test. DPMS is not one of those schools.
b. Science 2024-2025 Action Steps
i. Goal is to raise proficiency from 69.6% to 72% from 2023-2025
ii. Will implement SEEd (Science with Engineering Education) concepts and Science & Engineering
Practices for 2024-2025
iii. Percent of students at, near, or above proficiency on analyzing and interpreting data will be
80% or greater
iv. Science teachers will administer end of unit assessments to monitor student growth and
proficiency in Analyzing and Interpreting Data and measure progress toward goal.
v. Action items will support teachers in supporting these goals.
c. School Climate Goals – 2 Goals
i. Goal 1: TSSP and Land Trust will fund one Mentor position. Intervention Mentors help students
with passing classes and increasing attendance. Students failing classes or with poor attendance
receive support from Mentors. Mentors have a rolling caseload based on need. Administrators and
Teachers meet weekly to allocate resources, such as Mentors, to help students based on their
individual needs.
ii. Goal 2: In lieu of Club Thursday, the school will implement activities such as Friday Friends,
Jazz Band, Mathcounts, Writing Club, Chess Club, Robotics Club, Debate Club, and Gardening Club.
TSSP funds will be used to support some of these activities. The SCC suggested communicating these
opportunities to students and parents.
iii. Will continue with Student Recognition programs such as Viking of the Week, Month, and
Quarter, as well as Viking Scholar, funded by TSSP.
iv. Other programs funded by the TSSP include PBIS Rewards, School Store, funds for CORE and
Elective/Special Education teams, lunch aide, field trips, and a full-time registrar in the Student
Center.

4. Dr. Watts presented the full TSSP and Land Trust Plan for 2024-2025. Plan budget totals
$486,000, including roughly half from Land Trust and half from TSSP.
