Educational Release

What is an Educational Release?
Education Release periods are designed to facilitate a parent’s desire to allow their student to participate in Released-Time activity from public school in accordance with USBE R277-610.  A parent may request Released-Time for reasons ranging from academic to non-academic and must offer an explanatory note for non-academic activities within the first 10 days of the quarter according to the district policy. To get student’s top choices for electives, “Educational Release” must be requested at the time of course selection. If it is being requested AFTER the course selection card has been turned in, school counselors will do their best to accommodate the schedule change. However, we cannot guarantee that the electives will fit into the student’s schedule because the schedules have already been created.

Students requesting Educational Release after their course select card has been turned in will need to (1) email their school counselor AND (2) fill out the district required form (white button below). The forms for incoming 6th grade students who are currently attending a CSD school will be available July 1st.

Teaming

Draper Park Middle School uses a “teaming” approach to learning. Students who are on the same team have the same English, Math, Science and Social Studies teacher. It creates a “school within a school” for students and teachers to work together.

Please look at your Science teacher to determine your team:

  • Seaborn or Oldroyd — Team Mani
  • Abercrombie — Team Sol

7th Grade

  • Clark or Thurman — Team Freyr
